Charismatic Influence

Research has demonstrated that charismatic influence training, instruction on charismatic communication and visionary content, empowers leaders toward organizational effectiveness. Beth Harwood specializes in coaching, training and addressing the leadership development needs of professionals. Through the use of video assessment leaders can be provided with feedback on their level of charisma, dynamic nonverbal behaviors, and coached toward appropriate levels of demonstration. Training and support can be provided on articulating a vision, appealing to followers' values, use of autobiography and self-disclosure, use of metaphors, analogies and stories, as well as using self-efficacy language to convey high expectations.

Communicator credibility is a subject that is receiving a great deal of attention as individuals and organizations realize that their success depends on how they are perceived. Some professionals believe that because they are knowledgeable, trustworthy, caring and dynamic, that others will see them that way. Becoming aware of the visual, verbal and behavioral messages that convey to others that one is smart, savvy, sensitive and sincere can help professionals to get attention, compel others to listen and ultimately to achieve desired results. Beth Harwood has developed the Credibility Tool, a self-assessment that encourages reflection on the four dimensions of credibility; Competence, Honesty and Trustworthiness, Moral Character and Dynamism. Communication affects nearly all aspects of our lives. Developing techniques, strategies and skills to cope with some of the more difficult communication situations allows us to enjoy greater success and less anxiety when coping with daily challenges of working with people.

Beth Harwood's training and development curriculum includes the classic Assertive Communication Style, Listening Skills, Conflict Management, Customer Service, Feedback and Coaching, Problem Solving and Decision Making, Telephone Skills, Strategic Planning, and Team Building. During the past 25 years she has conducted these topics in modules ranging from 30 minutes to multiple days. She has offered the programs as onetime events as well as yearlong courses. She has taught them for undergraduate credit, CEU's, CME's and just for fun.
